This process is called Speech Sound Mapping and has significant benefits for children. It provides the foundation for reading and spelling by helping children become aware of, remember and manipulate the individual speech sounds within words.
Speech Sound Mapping (SSM) also supports speech and language development. Children can hear the target English speech sounds as often as they need, making it easier to notice differences between sounds, practise accurate production and build confidence in their spoken communication.
The 'pictures of the speech sounds' these Phonemies® produce are called graphemes, but we call them Speech Sound Pics®.

Other than children learning the phonics Core Code through the four Core Code levels, if useful, and reading The Village With Three Corners series of books in order, again only if useful for that child, there is no fixed scope and sequence. You learn how to support children of any age and at any word mapping stage from where they are, following their lead rather than the structure of a programme. It is important that we are schema-driven. We guide the self-learning of each child as an individual, rather than following a fixed sequence for all learners. The training centres on what THEIR brain needs to connect speech and print with ease.
